The sonographer works with radiologists to obtain high-quality ultrasound images while ensuring patient safety and comfort. They are responsible for maintaining equipment, following safety protocols, and providing exceptional care to patients of all age groups.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, with an associate's degree in diagnostic medical sonography preferred. Certification with ARDMS or ARRT is required, and one year of experience in sonography is preferred.
Follows and supports OSHA regulations and uses universal precautions when required. Cleans examination surfaces between patients. Provides clean linen including sheets, gowns, pillowcases, and towels. Immediately cleans spills following universal precautions. Properly stores accessory equipment when not in use.
Education: High School Diploma or GED. Associate's Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred. Must meet the education requirement for diagnostic medical ultrasound certification with ARDMS or ARRT.
1 year experience in sonography preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
