The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides care under supervision to help patients restore function and regain the ability to perform everyday tasks like dressing and eating. Responsibilities include administering treatments, implementing protocols, observing patient responses, and educating patients and families.
A minimum requirement is an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapist Assistant and state licensure as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in Indiana, along with Basic Life Support certification. While no prior experience is required, two years of experience as a COTA is preferred.
The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides care under the supervision of an occupational therapist, to help patients restore function and regain the ability to perform everyday tasks like dressing, grooming, and eating. The Occupational Therapist Assistant may modify an intervention only in accordance with changes in patient status and within the scope of the plan of care that has been established by the occupational therapist.
