The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for cleaning, decontaminating, and sterilizing medical and surgical equipment. They also manage the distribution of surgical supplies and assist the perioperative team with case cart preparation and room maintenance.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Preferred qualifications include one year of sterile processing experience and professional certifications such as CSPDT, CRCST, or CIS.
Required: · High school graduate or equivalent · One year of sterile processing experience Preferred: · Central Supply Processing Department Technician (CSPDT), or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification · Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) certification · Computer skills (eg, Microsoft® PowerPoint, Word, Excel) Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: · Physically demanding, high-stress environment · Exposure to blood and body fluids, sharp instruments and other devices, communicable diseases, chemicals, and repetitive motions · Full range of body motion including handling and lifting instrument trays · Manual and finger dexterity · Hand and eye coordination · Sitting, standing, and walking for extensive periods of time · Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds · Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range · Moving Patients under general anesthesia with slider board with assistance Travel Requirement: Travel could be required to obtain supplies from other facilities in the Kansas City area on rare occasions.
