The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care in the Emergency Department and Med-Surgical unit, which includes performing rapid assessment, triage, and developing care plans based on patient acuity. Essential functions involve responding to life-threatening emergencies, administering medications and treatments, maintaining accurate documentation in the EHR, and collaborating effectively with the healthcare team.
Candidates must possess a current State of Minnesota RN license and current American Heart BLS certification, with ACLS certification required within the first year. Preferred qualifications include 1-2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical nursing, with cross-training opportunities to the Emergency Department or OB.
Job Title: Register Nurse (RN) – ED/Med Surg Position Status: .9 fte (72 hours per pay period) - rotational days and nights (12-hour shifts), or option for straight nights if preferred. Two (2) weekends every six (6) weeks.

The Emergency Department (ED) and Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. The RN assesses, triages, and treats patients with a wide range of medical conditions, ensuring timely and effective care in collaboration with the healthcare team. Job Qualifications for Med Surg./Peds (cross-train to OB or ED): Commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Proficiency in electronic health records (EPIC) and documentation standards. Compassionate, patient-centered care. Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient advocacy skills. Minimum 1–2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical nursing Utilize critical thinking to manage rapidly changing patient conditions. Initiate life-saving interventions during medical emergencies. Emergency Response to medical and surgical patients Cross-train to Emergency Department or OB to assist as needed Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and interventions. Communicate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. Provide wound care, manage surgical incisions, and prevent infection. Monitor vital signs and promptly respond to changes in patient condition. Administer medications, IV therapies, and postoperative treatments safely. Essential Functions: Patient Assessment and Triage - Perform rapid assessment and triage based on patient acuity.. Direct Patient Care - Develop and implement care plans based on patient condition and medical protocols. Administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician. Provide wound care, start IV lines, and monitor patient response. Emergency Intervention - Respond to life-threatening emergencies such as cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, and trauma. Documentation and Reporting - Accurately document patient care and outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR). Demonstrate compliance with all regulatory standards, infection prevention, and patient safety protocols. Communication and Collaboration - Communicate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members. Provide patient education on care plans, discharge instructions, and medications. Patient Advocacy and Safety - Monitor patient conditions and respond to changes appropriately. Technical and Procedural Skills - Perform procedures such as IV insertion, catheterization, blood draws, and wound care. Emotional and Crisis Support - Provide emotional support to patients and families during traumatic events. Maintain professionalism and composure in high-stress situations.
Minimum(s): Current State of Minnesota RN license is required. New graudates are welcome to apply Current American Heart BLS certification is required. If not currently certified, training will be provided and certification must be obtained within 4 months of date of hire. Current American Heart ACLS certification is required. If not ACLS certified, we will train within the first year. Preferred(s): ICU, ER, Medical, Surgical or OB experience Competencies: Must work well under pressure and be sensitive to concerns and confidentiality of the patient Ability to work with patients of all ages and backgrounds with professionalism and care Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Strong communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
