Deliver prescribed respiratory therapies (nebulized meds, oxygen, chest therapy, airway clearance techniques) and adjust equipment per physician orders and unit protocols.
Manage ventilator support and monitoring, adjust settings as directed, and document patient responses and changes.
Perform bedside assessment and treatment for patients across assigned units, including M/S, ED, and Birthing Center, with a wide age range from neonate to geriatric.
Obtain and interpret ABGs as ordered; communicate results and recommendations to the care team.
Maintain and calibrate respiratory equipment, troubleshoot issues, ensure patient safety, and document care in the electronic health record (Epic).
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other therapists during rounds; participate in care planning and discharge planning as appropriate.
Support unit operations and quality/safety initiatives; provide orientation or mentorship as needed and applicable.
Requirements
Vermont license as a respiratory care practitioner (RCP) and NBRC certification (RRT) or eligible to sit for the NBRC written exam.
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP; PALS may be required or preferred.
Minimum 2 years of clinical experience; 2 years of experience in respiratory therapy specialty.
NICU experience within the last year; experience caring for patients across ICU and ED settings.
Epic experience within the past 2 years.
