Facilitate safe surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile field and anticipating the surgeon's needs for instruments and supplies. Ensure the operating room environment is properly prepared and maintain accurate records throughout the procedure.
Requires CPR certification and a preferred vocational or technical certificate as a Surgical Technologist. Candidates must have strong communication skills and knowledge of state, federal, and CMS regulations.
Surgical Technologists are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients. The surgical technologists work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operating procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologists possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of surgical procedures.
Work Relationship and Scope The Surgical Technologist reports to the ASC Clinical Director.
Work is generally performed at the main clinic; 800 First Street, Wausau, WI. Travel to satellite locations or outreach hospitals/surgery centers is required as needed. Hours of work will depend on the needs of the Clinic. Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting (30 pounds), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs is required.
