Manage the full intake and admission process, including triaging mental health status and coordinating care with physicians and nursing staff. Handle insurance verification, pre-certification, and the documentation of patient safety concerns in Med Series 4.
Requires a current Florida nursing license and CPR or BLS certification. Previous experience in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program is required, with a preference for one year of inpatient psychiatric experience.
Responsible for being able to perform all aspects of intake and admission process, including efficient and effective handling of inquiry calls, knowledge of and communication with referral sources; providing hospital and program information to individuals, agencies, facilities, and professionals; making outside referrals, when appropriate; assessing and triaging an individual’s mental health status; making patient safety and level of care recommendations to the UBC physician; identifying insurance benefits, pre-certification of patient care; completing all admission requirements; communicating patient safety concerns and pertinent patient information to unit nursing staff and documenting all necessary information in Med Series 4. Current license to practice nursing in the State of Florida Current CPR or BLS certification. Preferred one year of experience working in a psychiatric inpatient setting with patients aged 5-65yrs+.
Proficiency in medical terminology for medical documentation is preferred. Experience with behavioral health patient is preferred. Knowledge of patient care principles for adult psychiatric patients is beneficial. Experience working with children in a psychiatric setting is highly desirable. Competence in taking vital signs accurately. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Strong critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills.
