Conduct comprehensive health history phone interviews for patients requiring anesthesia and interpret peri-operative testing needs. Manage nursing care for assigned patients and collaborate with anesthesiologists and healthcare teams to ensure optimal outcomes.
Requires an Associate's in Nursing, a Michigan RN license, and BLS certification, with a Bachelor's degree required within five years. Previous experience in Pre-Screening, Critical Care, Pre-op, or PACU with anesthesia knowledge is highly preferred.
This person must live in the state of Michigan. Orientation to both Outpatient and Inpatient/Inhouse Screening is required for this position. Responsibilities include obtaining a comprehensive health history via phone interview for all patients requiring Anesthesia for scheduled procedures. Interprets need for and obtains necessary documentation of peri-operative testing. Up to date computer skills to allow for extensive documentation in the EPIC Electronic Health Record, communication to physicians/staff via Phone, Email and Fax. Consultation with Anesthesiologist Staff for case review may be necessary for completion prior to day of procedure. Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills are essential. Scope of work Responsible and accountable for the overall nursing care management of an assigned group of patients. Collaborates with the Nurse Manager and other members of the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Uses clinical judgment skills while conducting appropriate nursing aspects during the patient assessment to treat the patient's responses to actual or potential health conditions. Assesses, monitors, detects, plans, and takes appropriate action to prevent potential physiological complications associated with specific health problems and / or medical treatment.
