Perform anatomic gross tissue analysis and postmortem examinations under the direction of a Pathologist. Maintain pathology records, ensure equipment maintenance, and implement policies for Joint Commission compliance.
Requires a Master of Science in Pathology Assistants study or a Bachelor's degree in biological sciences with 3 years of on-the-job training. Certification by AAPA or ASCP is required within 15 months of hire.
Regions Hospital’s Histopathology Department is currently seeking a self-motivated, quality-focused Pathologists’ Assistant to join our team.
A Pathologists’ Assistant is a professional who is qualified by academic and practical training to provide service in anatomic pathology under the direction of a qualified Pathologist who is responsible for the performance of the Assistant. As a Pathologists’ Assistant at Regions Hospital, you will join an innovative and collaborative group of professionals.
FTE: 1.0 (40 hrs. weekly) Day Shift
Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Pathology Assistants study
Baccalaureate degree with a major or minor in any of the biological or allied health sciences and 3 years of Pathologists’ Assistant on the job training required.
Certification as a Pathologist Assistant by the American Association of Pathologist Assistants (AAPA) or American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) within 15 months of hire.
Experience: At least one year of experience as a certified Pathologists’ Assistant
